What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.

Practical
Transport by tram, bus, and taxi; parking at the airport; picking someone up or dropping them off.
Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.

Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport goes by two names: officially it is also Wold-Chamberlain Field, though to most travelers it is simply MSP airport (ICAO: KMSP). The airport serves Minneapolis in the United States and counts as a large, busy field in our monitoring. Rather than repeating what the live radar near the top of this page already shows, the aircraft in and out of MSP at this moment, or what the arrivals and departures pages linked above it list flight by flight, the sections below cover what those leave out: how much traffic our own receivers actually log at MSP, which airlines dominate that traffic, and which nearby airports show up in our data as alternates.
The traffic figures here come from our own 30-day reception measurement, not from a third-party feed. Over those 30 days we logged an average of 80.2 aircraft observations per day near Minneapolis-Saint Paul, which makes MSP one of the busier fields among all airports in the United States that we monitor. The count is a reception figure from our own measurement, not an official airport statistic, so use it as a sense of scale rather than an exact tally. Our database places the airport at 44.8801 north, 93.2217 west.
The densest stretch of traffic in that measurement fell between 00:00 and 02:00. One caveat: our measuring clock runs in UTC, so that window reflects the measurement clock rather than local Minneapolis time. Within each 24-hour cycle, that is when our receivers pick up the most aircraft around MSP.
Delta Air Lines towers over everything else in our MSP data: 1,526 observations in the past 30 days, more than ten times any other carrier we measured there. If you are waiting on a Delta flight, the Delta Air Lines flight status page is the place to start. Two more carriers appear regularly in the same 30-day window: Sun Country Airlines with 120 observations and Southwest Airlines with 106. Those flights are covered on the Sun Country Airlines status page and the Southwest Airlines flight status page.
When a disruption at Minneapolis-Saint Paul has you weighing other options, two of the closest airports in our data are Saint Cloud Regional Airport, 99 kilometers away, and Rochester International Airport at 122 kilometers. A third field, Chippewa Valley Regional Airport, lies farther out at 137 kilometers. Whether any of them makes sense as a rebooking option depends on your route.
Anything time-sensitive lives higher up: the radar on this page shows what is in the air around MSP right now, and the arrivals and departures pages linked above it give the current status of any arrival or departure at MSP airport.
