History of Indigo
IndiGo was founded in 2006, with its headquarters located at Gurgaon, India. It was founded by Rahul Bhatia of InterGlobe Enterprises and Rakesh Gangwal, a United States-based expatriate Indian as a private company and is the largest passenger airline in India with a domestic market share of 48.1% in June 2019. IndiGo is an Indian low-cost carrier and is the largest individual Asian low-cost carrier based in passenger carried and its jet fleet size, and the seventh-largest airline in Asia by passengers carried.
IndiGo placed the order of its first aircraft in June 2005 and received its first A320 in July 2006. The airline commenced its operations on August 2016, a month after it receives its first aircraft.
IndiGo received its license to operate international flights in January 2011, after completing five years of its operations. IndiGo’s first international flight, happened on September 1, 2011, between New Delhi and Dubai.

IndiGo Destinations
IndiGo operates flights to more than 70 airports with 56 domestic and 17 international destinations. It operates more than 1,400 flights daily with its primary hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, and bases at Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. IndiGo also has a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines that lets them operate to international destinations including Athens, Budapest, Brussels, Tel Aviv, Malta, Paris, Dublin, Copenhagen, Prague, Vienna, Zurich, and Amsterdam.
