Sichuan Airlines was founded on September 19, 1986, as Sichuan Airlines Company with its headquarters located in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It is a regional airline that started flying on July 14, 1988, between Chengdu and Wanzhou and mainly operates in the West of China. It is privately owned by Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd. Group with shareholders, China Southern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and Chengdu Gingko Catering Co, Ltd. It changed its name to Sichuan Airlines in 2002.
The airline is operating in its main hubs at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport and its secondary hubs at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and Kunming Changshui International Airport.
