Sky Regional Airlines History

On May 2011, this Canadian airline company commenced its first commercial flight to some pre-chosen markets namely Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Moncton and Quebec City with its fleet, Bombardier Q-400. In the year 2013, the airline company continues its expansion and starts adding new fleets such as 15 Embraer E175 aircraft which offers flight to the Northeastern United States specifically in the cities of Boston, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Washington, Dallas, and Chicago. As the year goes by, this airline company continues to expand its fleet by adding five E175 aircraft which serves Jacksonville, Houston, Denver, and Atlanta. In the year 2017, another five E175 were added on the Sky Regional Airlines fleet. On this year, this airline company has now a total of 25 Embraer E175 aircraft. These aircraft are equipped Wi-Fi service and seatback in-flight entertainment systems giving the passengers an option to watch current movies and TV shows and even listen to some radio stations.

Sky Regional Airlines Fleet

In the year 2010, Air Canada leased Bombardier Q400s, a fleet that was used to be operated by Lynx Aviation of Denver, to Sky Regional Airlines. The aircraft is comprising of 74 seats. In the year 2013, Air Canada’s 15 Embraer 175 planes were also transferred to this airline company. In the year 2015, an additional 5 Embraer 175 aircraft were added to its fleet. The said aircraft were previously operated by Azul Brazilian Airlines. In the year 2017, 5 Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 were transferred to fellow Air Canada Express. However, in the same year, the airline received 5 additional Embraer 175. The first aircraft commenced its first flight on May 16 while the last aircraft goes into service on July 1. These newly acquired aircraft feature an additional 3 seats for business class with a total of 12 seats. At the end of 2017, the entire remaining fleet was reconfigured to a 76-seat configuration.

It serves the cities in Canada namely Newfoundland and Labrador, Gander, St. John’s, Nova Scotia, Halifax, Sydney, Ontario, Ottawa, Toronto, Quebec, Montreal, and Quebec City. Aside from that, it also serves some parts of the USA such as Colorado, Georgia, Atlanta, Denver, Louisiana, New Orleans, Maryland, Baltimore, Massachusetts, Boston, Minnesota, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Newark, New York, North Carolina, Raleigh, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Texas, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. area.
