In the year 2015, there was a trial conducted to test the feasibility of operating a patient transfer service just between the Thunder Bay Regional Airport and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center. The patient’s transfer waiting time has been the major concern during that time. To solve the problem, they decided to add capacity to the local Ambulance system. Today, in conjunction with Air Ambulance Service, this company also operates a land Medical Transfer Service.

Currently, Thunder Airlines’ fleet is consisting of Beechcraft King Air, Mitsubishi MU-2, and Cessna Grand Caravan.
