What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.
1 runway · Longest runway: 9,039 ft
We currently see no traffic on approach or just after takeoff. That happens at a quiet airport or in the middle of the night.

Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.
Airport facts
Ercan International Airport (IATA ECN, ICAO LCEN) lies near Tymbou, about fifteen kilometers east of Nicosia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the north of the island that is recognized only by Turkey. That status shapes everything about the airport: it is not recognized by international aviation bodies, so every flight to Ercan must touch down in Turkey first, which makes it a busy airport for a small place, with jets arriving all day from Istanbul, Antalya and Ankara. A large new terminal opened in 2023. The live radar on this page shows the traffic around Ercan; the arrivals and departures pages are linked above it.
Pegasus is the largest airline, flying from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, Antalya, Ankara, Izmir, Adana and other Turkish cities, often as the second leg of a flight from Europe; Turkish Airlines and AJet connect Istanbul Airport and Ankara, and SunExpress and Freebird fly from Antalya and Izmir, with Corendon adding seasonal flights. In our route data, Istanbul, Antalya, Sabiha Gökçen, Tarsus and Amman are the most frequently flown connections, the last of these via a Turkish stop. There are no direct flights from anywhere but Turkey.
Taxis wait outside the terminal with fixed fares to the main towns: about twenty-five minutes to North Nicosia, forty to Kyrenia (Girne) on the north coast, and 45 minutes to Famagusta (Gazimağusa) and the Karpaz road. Kıbhas airport buses run to Nicosia, Kyrenia and Famagusta, timed to the flights, and hotels arrange transfers. Rental cars are available in the terminal and are the usual way to see the north; driving is on the left, as in the rest of Cyprus, and rental cars from the north may not be taken across the Green Line into the south.
The 2023 terminal is large and modern, with short walks and generous space; two hours ahead is enough. Entry is through Turkish Cypriot passport control, which stamps a separate slip rather than the passport on request; crossing to the Republic of Cyprus is possible on foot or by car at the Green Line checkpoints in Nicosia and elsewhere, but check your government's advice on flying into Ercan. Turkish lira is the currency, euros are widely accepted. The alternatives are the airports of the Republic of Cyprus, Larnaca and Paphos, an hour away across the line, with direct flights from all over Europe. Every airport we track is listed in the airport overview.
