Good to know

  • There are two trains an hour to both Ayr and Glasgow Central Station. The journey from Glasgow Central takes about 40 minutes, and to Ayr about 10 minutes.
  • Trains run from around 6 a.m. to 12:15 a.m., and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Tickets cannot be purchased at the station; buy them online in advance or on the train. There are no toilets at the station; the nearest are inside the terminal building, via the covered walkway.

Good to know

  • The Stagecoach Western X77 Express service operates to and from Ayr Bus Station and Glasgow Buchanan Street Station. This direct service stops right outside the airport on the A79.
  • Other bus routes from nearby towns also serve the airport. Check the timetables for all routes, as operating hours and frequencies may vary, especially on weekends and public holidays.

To the airport

  • Buses to the airport from Ayr run every 20 minutes, taking about 18 minutes; from Glasgow they run every 30 minutes, taking about 44 minutes. Services from Ayr run from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and from Glasgow from 7:15 a.m. to 12:05 a.m. On Sundays, services may start later and finish earlier.

  • Taxis are readily available outside the terminal building, with Streamline offering a direct journey. If there are no taxis at the stand, a free phone is available in the terminal building at the exit to the left of WHSmith.
