What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.

Practical
Transport by train, bus, and taxi; parking at the airport; picking someone up or dropping them off.
Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.

In our own 30-day reception measurement, we logged an average of 62.7 aircraft observations per day near Orlando Airport, formally Orlando International Airport, which counts as busy in our measurement; by size class it is a large airport. The airport, listed under IATA code MCO and ICAO code KMCO, serves the city of Orlando and is listed at coordinates 28.4294, -81.309, among the United States airports on this site. The live radar on this page shows the aircraft arriving at and departing from MCO right now, with the arrivals and departures pages linked above it for flight-by-flight status; the sections below add what neither can show: how the traffic spread across our measurement, which airlines appeared most often in that data, and which nearby fields work as alternates.
The 62.7 observations per day are an average across the full 30-day window of our own reception measurement. Within that window, the busiest stretch fell between 00:00 and 02:00, with one important note: our measurement clock runs in UTC, not local Orlando time, so that peak does not describe the middle of the night at MCO.
These are our own figures, based on what our measurement actually received over 30 days. They are a traffic sample rather than a timetable, which makes them useful for exactly one thing: showing when and how much activity our receivers pick up around MCO. Because the daily figure is a 30-day average, a single busy or quiet day barely shifts it, and the peak window is simply the two hours in which that measurement counted the most observations.
Three carriers stood out in our 30-day sample at Orlando International. JetBlue led the count with 472 observations, making it the most frequently received airline at MCO in our data. Frontier Airlines followed with 350 measurements over the same period. American Airlines completed the top three with 189 observations. JetBlue's lead over Frontier is clear but not overwhelming, and Frontier in turn is well ahead of American. Each airline name links to its own status page, so if you are following a specific flight, checking by airline is usually the fastest route.
Orlando has more than one airport in reach, which matters when you are comparing flights or dealing with a diversion. The closest alternate in our data is Orlando Sanford International Airport, 39 km from MCO. Melbourne Orlando International Airport, 75 km out, is the second option in our data, and Lakeland Linder International Airport follows at 85 km. All three distances come from our own airport data, and which of the three is realistic depends on where your trip starts or ends.
