O.R. Tambo International Airport is an international airport that serves the twin cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, which represent the administrative capital of South Africa. It is located in Kempton Park, Gauteng, and is the second busiest airport in Africa. On an annual average, it processes 28,000,000 passengers. The airport used to be called Jan Smuts International Airport after a South African Prime Minister, while Jan Smuts was serving as the Prime Minister, this had always antagonized the opposing forces and parties. When the African National Congress won the elections nine years later, it was decided not to name airports after the ruling politicians. Therefore, in December 1994, the airport was renamed Johannesburg International Airport. However, in 2006, the legislation changed, and the airport's name was changed to O.R. Tambo International Airport on October 27. The airport later became a domestic, international, and global gateway, facilitating trade and travel and creating economic opportunities.

How to Get Here

Public transport is also handy as the airport connects to Gautrain, which can be used to travel from and depart at various connecting points in Johannesburg.
