What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.
3 runways · Longest runway: 15,026 ft
We currently see no traffic on approach or just after takeoff. That happens at a quiet airport or in the middle of the night.

Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.

Kuwait International Airport (IATA KWI, ICAO OKBK) lies in Farwaniya, about 16 kilometers south of the center of Kuwait City, on the flat desert of the Arabian Gulf coast. It is the only commercial airport of Kuwait and the home of the national carrier Kuwait Airways and the low-cost airline Jazeera Airways, serving a country where most of the population are expatriate workers from India, Egypt, the Philippines and across the region, which shapes the route map. The live radar on this page shows the traffic around Kuwait; the arrivals and departures pages are linked above it. Kuwait is two hours ahead of Central Europe in winter and one in summer.
Kuwait Airways flies to London Heathrow, Paris, Frankfurt, Geneva, Milan, New York, Istanbul, Cairo, across the Gulf and to the big cities of India and Pakistan; Jazeera Airways, the low-cost carrier based at its own terminal, covers the Gulf, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka and Europe at low fares. Emirates, flydubai, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Gulf Air and Oman Air connect the other Gulf hubs, Turkish Airlines Istanbul, Royal Jordanian Amman and IndiGo India. In our route data, Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Mumbai are the most frequently flown connections, and London Heathrow, Paris and Frankfurt the busiest European routes.
Taxis wait outside the terminals, run on the meter or at fixed airport fares, and take twenty to thirty minutes to the city center and the hotels along the Gulf Road; Careem and other ride-hailing apps are widely used. Public buses run from the airport to the city cheaply but slowly and are used mainly by workers. Rental cars are available in the arrivals hall, and driving is the normal way to get around a city built for cars; fuel is among the cheapest in the world.
Kuwait has three passenger terminals: Terminal 1, the main one, for Kuwait Airways and most foreign carriers; Terminal 4, opened in 2018, used by Kuwait Airways for part of its flights; and Terminal 5, the dedicated Jazeera Airways terminal. They are a few minutes apart by shuttle, so check which one your airline uses. A huge new Terminal 2 has been under construction for years and will eventually replace them. Visitors from most European countries and North America obtain a visa on arrival or an e-visa; check the rules, and note that alcohol is prohibited in Kuwait. Summer temperatures pass 45 degrees. For the wider region, Dubai and Doha are the big hubs an hour away by air. Every airport we track is listed in the airport overview.
