What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.
1 runway · Longest runway: 10,499 ft
We currently see no traffic on approach or just after takeoff. That happens at a quiet airport or in the middle of the night.

Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.
Airport facts
Piarco International Airport (IATA POS, ICAO TTPP) lies about 25 kilometers east of Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, on the plain south of the Northern Range. It is the main airport of the twin-island republic and the home of Caribbean Airlines, and the gateway for business travelers to the energy industry, for the large diaspora returning from North America and Britain, and for Carnival, when flights sell out months ahead. The radar on this page shows what our data sources report around Trinidad; the arrivals and departures pages are linked above it.
Caribbean Airlines is by far the largest carrier, flying to Miami, New York JFK, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto, Kingston, Barbados, Guyana and across the eastern Caribbean, and operating the twenty-minute air bridge to Tobago many times a day. American Airlines flies from Miami, JetBlue from New York, United from Houston and Newark, Air Canada from Toronto and British Airways from London Gatwick via St. Lucia. In our route data, Miami, Toronto, New York JFK, Houston and Newark are the most frequently flown connections.
Taxis wait outside arrivals and charge fixed fares posted at the stand; the drive into Port of Spain takes 30 to 45 minutes along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, longer in the morning rush, and late-night fares are higher. There is no bus or train service worth planning around, though maxi-taxis run along the highway for the adventurous. Rental cars are available at the terminal; Trinidad drives on the left. Most hotels in the capital and on the Chaguaramas peninsula arrange transfers.
Piarco has one terminal with departures upstairs and arrivals below, and the gates a short walk from security; the US-bound morning flights bunch together, so arrive two to three hours ahead, as the US carriers require. Most visitors from Europe and North America need no visa for a short stay; check the current rules. Carnival in February or March and Christmas are the peak periods. For Tobago, the air bridge lands at Tobago near Crown Point; Barbados is the other big hub of the eastern Caribbean. Every airport we track is listed in the airport overview.
