What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.
3 runways · Longest runway: 12,001 ft

Practical
Transport by tram and taxi; parking at the airport; picking someone up or dropping them off.
Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.

Every boarding pass, baggage tag, and booking confirmation marked SLC points to the same place: Salt Lake City International Airport, the large airport serving Salt Lake City. Most travelers just call it SLC airport or Salt Lake City airport; SLC is its IATA code, the version travelers see, and KSLC is its ICAO code, the version that appears in flight plans. The field itself sits at 40.79 degrees north and 111.98 degrees west. The live radar on this page shows the aircraft arriving at and departing from SLC right now, and the arrivals and departures pages linked above it tell you whether the flight you are following is running to schedule.
The radar on this page covers Salt Lake City International and nothing else, and the same goes for the arrivals and departures pages linked above it. That is worth spelling out, because SLC is not the only airfield in the area, and a flight using one of the neighboring fields will not show up on the SLC arrivals or departures page. So if a flight you expect to see here seems to be missing, the first thing to rule out is a mix-up between Salt Lake City International and one of its neighbors, each of which has a page of its own on this site. Our own 30-day measurement had no traffic figures or airline counts to report for SLC, so the live radar is the place to follow the traffic here.
The distances tell their own story. Ogden Hinckley Airport is the closest field in our records at about 45 km from SLC, with Provo Municipal Airport following at roughly 67 km; both sit near enough to come into the picture when you look at flights in the wider Salt Lake City area. After those two the list thins out sharply. The next entry, Vernal Regional Airport, lies some 212 km away, more than three times the distance to Provo and almost five times the distance to Ogden. For most travelers headed to or from the city, Vernal is too far out to be a realistic alternative; in practice, the comparison that matters is between SLC and the two closer fields. All three distances are the values in our database and say nothing about road connections or travel time, so use them as orientation rather than as a rebooking plan.
This page is the direct address for SLC on Flightstatus24: one URL for the live radar and, one click further, the status of every arrival and departure at the airport. If you fly through Salt Lake City International regularly, or often meet passengers arriving there, it is worth keeping at hand.
