What do the colors mean?
The white arrow on the runway points the way the traffic is going. Derived from the positions of aircraft flying low near the airport right now. Not an official runway plan; what we see.
Designation, direction and length of every runway. These rarely change; which one is in use right now shows up here whenever we observe traffic.
1 runway · Longest runway: 11,148 ft
We currently see no traffic on approach or just after takeoff. That happens at a quiet airport or in the middle of the night.

Fly direct
The destinations we know the most flight numbers for. That approximates how heavily a route is served; it is not a passenger count.
Other airports within reach, with the straight-line distance and the number of direct destinations we know of. Airports without scheduled service are left out.

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (IATA TRV, ICAO VOTV), in the city still widely called Trivandrum, lies only four kilometers from the center of the capital of Kerala, India, between the city and the Arabian Sea, with the beaches of Kovalam a short drive to the south. It is one of the three international airports of Kerala and a hub for the state's vast diaspora in the Gulf, whose flights fill the departure boards at night, and the gateway for visitors to the backwaters, the ayurvedic resorts of Kovalam and Varkala, and the southern tip of India. The live radar on this page shows the traffic along the coast; the arrivals and departures pages are linked above it. India is four and a half hours ahead of Central European winter time.
Air India Express and IndiGo are the two largest airlines, flying to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi and across the Gulf; Air India connects Mumbai and Delhi. The Gulf is the heart of the international network: Emirates and flydubai to Dubai, Etihad and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi to Abu Dhabi, Air Arabia to Sharjah, Oman Air to Muscat, Qatar Airways to Doha, Gulf Air to Bahrain and Kuwait Airways to Kuwait; Scoot flies to Singapore and Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur, with SriLankan Airlines to Colombo. In our route data, Bengaluru, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Sharjah and Hyderabad are the most frequently flown connections.
Prepaid taxis from the counter in arrivals and app cabs (Uber, Ola) take fifteen to twenty minutes to the city center and the railway station, and about half an hour to Kovalam; autorickshaws serve the short city rides. KSRTC buses stop near the terminals for the cheap option. The two terminals are a few kilometers apart on opposite sides of the runway, so check which one you need before setting off; a shuttle links them.
Terminal 2, opened in 2011, handles the international flights, and Terminal 1 the domestic ones; the airport is operated by the Adani group since 2021 and has been steadily modernized. The Gulf departures bunch together late at night, so arrive three hours ahead for international flights, as the airlines require, and have your documents ready for the several checks. Visitors need an Indian e-visa obtained in advance. For the backwaters and Kochi, Kochi is Kerala's busiest airport three hours north, and Kozhikode serves the north of the state. Every airport we track is listed in the airport overview.
