The original Frontier Airlines was founded in 1950 and operated from Denver, the airline, however, ceased operations in 1986. The airline carried 87 million passengers when it closed down and was incorporated into Continental Airlines. Continental closed the Denver hub in 1993 and in 1994 Frontier Airlines was again launched and they started operating between Denver and four destinations which quickly expanded to other destinations.
