Atlanta departures: how to read the board

The departures board above lists the flights leaving Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International today, with the scheduled departure time, the estimated or actual time, the destination and the status. It updates continuously; an estimated time later than the schedule means a delay, and departed means the aircraft has left the gate.

Check your terminal first: Delta checks in on the North side of the Domestic Terminal, Southwest, Frontier, Spirit, American Airlines and United Airlines on the South side, and international flights at the Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal on the far side of the airfield. After security, the Plane Train links concourses T through F; the walk and ride to concourse E or F take fifteen minutes. The domestic security checkpoints are busiest in the early morning and late afternoon. Arrive two hours ahead for domestic flights and three for international.

Dropping off and getting there

Drop off curbside at the terminal of your flight, for a brief stop to unload only, or use the North and South Hourly lots next to the Domestic Terminal if you want to walk in together. MARTA’s Red and Gold lines run from downtown and Midtown to the station at the west end of the Domestic Terminal; shuttles run door to door across metro Atlanta from the Ground Transportation Center, and ride-hailing pick-up and drop-off are signposted at both terminals.

The board is dominated by Delta flights to almost every city in the United States and to Europe, Latin America and Asia, Southwest, Frontier and Spirit to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas and Denver, and the evening international wave to London Heathrow, Paris, Amsterdam and Seoul.
