SFO arrivals: how to read the board

The arrivals board above lists the flights landing at San Francisco International today, with the scheduled time, the estimated or actual landing time and the status of each flight. It updates continuously. SFO is the main hub of United Airlines on the West Coast and a focus city for Alaska Airlines, with a heavy transpacific schedule and famously fog-sensitive runways.

Check the terminal before you head out: Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and the International Terminal form a ring connected by the free AirTrain. United uses Terminal 3 and the International Terminal, Alaska and Delta Terminal 2, Southwest, American Airlines, JetBlue and Frontier Terminal 1. Pick up at the curb outside Arrivals/Baggage Claim only when your passenger is outside; wait in the free Cell Phone Waiting Lot next to Long-Term Parking, up to 60 minutes, and the Domestic Garage with short tunnels to every terminal suits meeting domestic arrivals inside. Allow an hour between landing and the curb for international flights. BART runs from the station at the International Terminal to San Francisco and the East Bay, Caltrain connects via Millbrae, and SamTrans route 292 stops at the terminals.

Which flights you see on this board

United and its regional partner SkyWest account for the largest share of arrivals, from across the United States and from Asia, Europe and Australia. Alaska, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and American add the rest of the domestic traffic, Air Canada and WestJet fly in from Canada. The busiest connections in our route data are Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle; international arrivals include London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Tokyo Haneda.

Looking for a departing flight? Switch to the Departures tab. Morning fog is the classic cause of delay at SFO, when the parallel runways cannot be used together; the board shows for each flight whether the estimated time has slipped. Every airport we track is listed in the airport overview; Oakland and San Jose are the other Bay Area airports.
